Severn Enterprise was built 1930 by Watsons at Gainsborough for the Severn Canal Carrying Company as there first Diesel Tug. As far as I know the engine was a twin cylinder Kromhout.
She is 46ft. 6in. in length 12ft beam and can draw up to 6ft with water ballast in for and aft tanks. This was designed so that she could get up under the bridges on the higher Severn.
She has a sister Severn Progress built 3years later at Charles Hill yard Bristol. She has a 6 cylinder turbo air cooled Lister. This vessel is now in the Boat Museum at Gloucester.
Enterprise was sold out of service from BW around the mid 50's, the only record states 'put onto a low loader for London?' Have been unable to locate any information of this period. The next record I have for the year 2000, is a letter saying that she is at Goole having a Foden engine removed and a 6 Cylinder water cooled Deutz fitted.
Due to her condition and originality I don't think that she has been worked after being sold from BW. Looks like she may have been a private boat or Houseboat.
